Stone Butch Badges

In dedication to the late Leslie Feinberg Stone Butch Badges a project that honours and represents lesbians who stood together during some of the most dangerous and oppressive periods of lesbian history. The project aims to reveal the people behind traditional butch lesbian fashion symbols, exploring what these symbols have meant, and continue to mean, within the community. Butches may just seem like a queer stereotype, however it is an identity, a gender expression, a protest and a historical tradition. Dawning a badge featuring iconic lesbians through time is an act of connection and respect for those who came before us.
